At the intersection of artistry and craftsmanship lies our latest endeavor—a breathtaking mosaic project nestled in the outskirts of Moscow, Russia. Commissioned for a private residence, this undertaking was a testament to creativity, precision, and collaboration.
Unveiling the Materials: A Symphony of Smalti Glass from Venice
Our journey began with the selection of materials, a pivotal decision that would shape the essence of our creation. Entrusting the legacy of Venetian craftsmanship, we sourced colored smalti glass from the renowned Orsoni Glass Company in Venice, Italy. With each piece meticulously crafted, we amassed approximately 400,000 individual glass elements, each destined to find its place in our mosaic tapestry.
The Foundation of Durability: Innovations by Mapei Company
To ensure longevity and resilience against the elements, we turned to the expertise of the Mapei Company. Their two-component epoxy resin, Keralastic T, became the cornerstone of our project, bonding our glass fragments to Aluminum Honeycomb Mounting and Support Panels. This innovative combination not only imbued our mosaics with durability but also rendered them lightweight and adaptable to the harsh whims of nature—be it snow, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
The Artisan's Touch: Bringing Mucha's Vision to Life
Guided by the timeless allure of Alphonse Mucha's illustrious artworks, our team of 12 dedicated artists embarked on a seven-month journey of creation. With reverence for Mucha's distinctive style and decorative flair, we meticulously reproduced his designs, infusing each panel with the spirit of the Art Nouveau period.
Installation: Where Art Meets Architecture
With the culmination of our labor at hand, a team of four skilled artisans undertook the task of installing our masterpieces. Over the course of seven days, we meticulously placed each panel on the exterior walls of the residence, seamlessly integrating art with architecture.
